Laser Tattoo Removal: What to Expect

When you were younger, you did a lot of things you regret doing. You wrecked your first car, you got stuck in a few low paying jobs, and you got a few tattoos. Yes, you are maturing, and you have started to question many of your decision made earlier in life. Thankfully, almost all of the mistakes we can make in our youth lead to temporary troubles or end up having a silver-lining. Tattoos, however, as all of our elders warned us, are permanent. At Advanced Aesthetics Salon and Medical Spa we’re here to prove them wrong with laser tattoo removal.

Around 25-percent of people who get body art regret their decision to do so. The good news is that you can change your situation. You can opt to get laser tattoo removal and correct this decision made earlier in life. You may have heard that laser tattoo removal was not so great in the past, but modern lasers work far better than older ones at getting rid of old body art.

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

Upon examining the different colors of ink in your tattoo, our trained professionals will calibrate the laser to handle the different light frequency output required to handle each color of ink in your tattoo. Black ink is by far the easiest color to remove, because black ink will absorb all frequencies of photonic light. As the photons from the laser collide with ink molecules in your skin, the resultant impact causes the ink molecules to shatter. From here, your body then goes to work removing the busted-up ink molecules as waste through the normal functioning of the lymphatic system.

How Many Visits Will I Need?

Unfortunately, laser tattoo removal does not get rid of a tattoo in a single session. It may take several sessions to achieve your desired result. Each session with the laser is scheduled about four to six weeks apart. The number of sessions may be shortened if you have a really old and faded tattoo. These kinds of tattoos are typically much easier to remove—especially if they are mostly composed of black ink. After each session, you will need to keep your skin out of direct sunlight. Your skin will be light sensitive for a while, and it will be necessary to use a quality sun screen rated SPF 30 or higher.
