What Makes Micro-Needling So Effective?

Are you looking to correct signs of facial aging without resorting to surgery? Many people with light to moderate lines and wrinkles do not need facial surgery at this time. A technique called micro-needling may allow you to postpone surgery or extend the effects of previous surgical procedures.

What Is Micro-Needling?

Medically known as Collagen Induction Therapy, micro-needling is a skin rejuvenation treatment involving the use of a small device to create numerous micro-injuries that trigger skin remodeling and the formation of new collagen fibers.

A needling treatment can help improve skin conditions like lines and wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, blemishes, hyperpigmentation, and more. Virtually any skin problem that you have can be improved by undergoing a micro-needling treatment.

One of the main advantages is that a needling treatment does not require incisions. The less damage that we do to your skin, the less healing time is involved. Most patients are able to immediately resume their normal activities after their needling session.

Another advantage to micro-needling is that it offers results that appear very natural. We are not injecting you with a foreign substance or implanting anything. We are simply triggering your body’s own restorative abilities to safely and gradually improve the condition of your skin affected by signs of aging or sun damage.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

You may make a good candidate for a needling treatment if you are currently suffering from signs of aging or sun damage. However, the treatment is not for everyone. If you have a current skin infection or an active breakout, you will need to resolve the condition prior to undergoing the treatment.

Can I Have More Than One Treatment?

Most patients benefit from multiple needling treatments. You just need to wait several weeks between each session so that your skin has time to completely heal and remodel itself. Each successive treatment session will build upon the results of prior ones.

What About Combination Treatments?

Micro-needling works very well in conjunction with the application of topical skin care products. Ointments, gels, lotions, creams, and serums are able to penetrate more deeply into your skin by taking advantage of the numerous microscopic channels created by the needling process.
